1946
Alex and Paul Szopieray, started a small dirt and demolition company, BCX, in Richmond, California. After Alex’s untimely death, Paul’s wife, Margret “Dot”, joined the company, to help Paul.
1974
By the mid 70’s, the company, had grown to a $10M annual operation.
1965
The company was incorporated as Bay Cities Paving & Grading.
1978
As the company expands revenue and employees, a larger office was purchased to handle the growth.
1981
Ben L. Rodriguez, Jr., the grandson of the company founder, assumed control of the company and has since guided the company’s growth. Ben’s wife, Kim Rodriguez, would later join the company in the mid 90’s.
1997
Company moves headquarters to Concord, CA as the company reaches 100 employees. The equipment department and shop remain at this location today.
2000
Bay Cities successfully bid and won its first multimillion project as a General. The project was estimated at $30M. With the successful completion of the project, Bay Cities continues to bid and win projects in the ranges of $50M-$200M.
2015
Bay Cities’ team grew to 300+ employees and required an additional headquarter move to substantiate the growth.
2023
