In the late 70’s, while pursuing an engineering degree at UCB at the young age of 19, I made the tough decision to leave school and run a $12M company with roughly 30 employees. That decision helped build a $250M business, with support from over 300 employees.

Away From The Office

  • When not bidding Caltrans projects, something I still enjoy 45 years later, I love spending spare time with my wife, Kim, my family, and traveling and golfing.

Kimberly Rodriguez

Executive Secretary / Treasurer

I joined the Bay Cities’ family business in the early 1990’s, during an economic downturn. 30+ years later, I feel fortunate to have joined this exciting, ever changing company and industry.

  • I enjoy family time, equestrian activities, traveling and gardening.

Marlo Manqueros

Vice President / General Counsel

I have practiced law since 1992, and represent Bay Cities in all aspects of compliance, contracts, and litigation, including resolving conflicts and insurance issues. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford, and my JD from Golden Gate University.

Away From The Office

  • I enjoy travel, cycling, hiking and overly friendly large Labradors.

Eric Barker

Chief Operations Officer

I began working with Bay Cities in 1983 as a Laborer. Over the years, I worked my way through the ranks as a Foreman, Superintendent and eventually Operations Manager.

Away From The Office

  • I enjoy vacationing with my family, golfing, boating, wake surfing and snow skiing.

Ruby Athwal

Vice President / Chief Administrative Officer

My career spans 24 years, during which time I have climbed the corporate ladder from Intern to Chief Administrative Officer. I have worked in the Construction, Accounting, IT, and HR fields. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Sacramento State University, and my Construction Management Certificate from Cal State East Bay.

Away From The Office

  • I am a proud mom of two teenagers. My husband and I keep our weekends full by arranging our kids’ schedules around travel, sports, and sleepovers. Any left over time is dedicated to family, friends, shopping and a secret addiction to Reality TV.

David Jacobson

Chief Financial Officer

My career includes 22 years of experience as a CFO, COO and Consultant, and 10 years of experience as a Vice President and Senior Analyst in the investment banking industry. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from San Jose State University, and my MBA from Santa Clara University.

Away From The Office

  • I enjoy hiking, equestrian activities, photography, electronic circuit design, and reading non-fiction in general and physics in particular … the latter of which I like to pretend I understand.

Daniel Rodriguez

Vice President of Estimating and Business Development

Following many summers in high school and college working in the field and in the shop, I took a job with Bay Cities right out of college. Over the ensuing 14 years, I worked in evolving roles from Project Engineer to Project Manager to Sr Project Manager to Area Manager. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from California Polytechnic State University. I also hold a Sustainable Business Strategy Certificate from Harvard Business School, and am Cat Paving and OSHA 40 certified.

Away From The Office

  • I enjoy spending time with family and friends, beaches, boating, snow skiing, golf and climate / social advocacy.

Reza Golzar

Chief Private Estimator

I have 44 years of experience in the construction industry. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Industrial Technology from Chico State University.

Away From The Office

  • I love traveling, walking, gathering with friends and family, and working out in the gym.

I began working full time with Bay Cities in 2008, as an Administrative Assistant while pursuing my masters degree in Finance from St Mary’s College, moving  from various Accounting roles to Controller.

Julie Lomeli

Human Resources Manager

I began my career with Bay Cities in 2008 as a Project Assistant and handled various HR functions. Bay Cities consistent growth and need for additional HR management, resulted in the development of my current role of HR Manager.

  • I enjoy spending time with family, reading, travel and interior design.

Shawna Olgin

Contract and Risk Manager

I have over 23 years of experience in the construction industry, beginning my career as an Estimating Assistant and progressing to my current role as Contract & Risk Manager. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with various departments, including Estimating, Contracts, Risk Management, Compliance, and Accounting. This experience has allowed me to build strong professional relationships that I cherish.

Away from the office:

  • As a proud mother of two sons—one aspiring to be a firefighter and the other pursuing a career in law enforcement—I value the importance of family. Additionally, I have a 120-pound dog named Bear, who keeps me active.
  • I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors.

Katiria Nunez

Learning and Development Manager

For the past 10+ years, I’ve been a dedicated learning & development leader, focused on boosting employee performance and satisfaction. With a Master’s degree in Instructional Design, I’ve honed my skills in creating effective and engaging learning experiences. I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse teams across the globe and love collaborating to develop and implement creative training solutions that really make a difference.

Away from the office:

  • I enjoy all sorts of crafts, reading, spending time with my husband and two dogs.

Kevin Barker

Area Manager

I have 35 years of experience in the Construction industry, beginning as an operator, and moving up to a superintendent and Area Manager. I love working on large $100M projects, and helping to bring those to fruition.

Away From The Office

  • My proudest accomplishments are my marriage of 30 years and my children. I love golfing, snow skiing and spending summer weekends on my boat in Lake Shasta.

I began working full time with Bay Cities in 2002, moving from various Project Management roles to Area Manager. I am LEED-Certified, and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from Northern Arizona University.

  • I enjoy spending time with my family, watching and coaching kids activities, vacationing and golfing.

I spent summers during my high school years working in the shop at Bay Cities, and later interned for the company while pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree at UC Davis. I joined the team full time as a Project Engineer in 2009, and have continually developed to my current role as an Area Manager.

Away from the Office:

  • I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, hunting, and vacationing, especially in the Lake Tahoe region.

Jackie Cheng

Area Manager

After 25 years in the construction industry, I took a step back in 2022 to focus on cultivating my own farm and homestead. This journey reignited my passion for purposeful work, leading to a pivotal moment when I was offered the opportunity to join Bay Cities Paving & Grading. The alignment of my values with this incredible team has brought me immense joy and ambition, reminding me that the best is yet to come as I continue to grow within this big family.

Away from the Office:

  • Outside of work, I’m a certified health coach, RYT500 yoga teacher, permaculturist, and an enthusiastic volunteer for Burning Man.
  • My free time is spent practicing yoga, exploring my farm’s natural wonders, and enjoying simple moments like lying on my water buffalo, playing with my dogs, or gazing at the sky in gratitude.
  • I also cherish good conversations with friends and family, often accompanied by delicious food and wine.
  • Currently, I’m studying soil biology through Dr. Elaine’s online courses, deepening my understanding of and appreciation for nature.

RJ Roach

Area Superintendent

I bring over 36 years of field experience to the Bay Cities team.

  • I enjoy golf, cooking, family time…and more golf.

 

 

Robert Bunting

Area Superintendent

I have proudly worked at Bay Cities for over 32 years, in a variety of positions.

Away from the Office:

  • I enjoy snowmobiling, hunting, and golf.

 

My career spans over 25 years, with experience in welding, fabrication, heavy equipment, paving products, hydraulics, electronics, HVAC, machining, automotive mechanics, and hydrostatics. I began working at Bay cities  in 2001, and am credentialed as an Equipment Management Specialist (AEMP). I also hold Cat Tier 4 Paving, Cat Tier 4 Engines and OSHA-DOT-Compliant certificates. My education background includes aviation structural mechanics and naval/shipyard welding.

Away From The Office

  • I love spending time with my family, mountain biking, playing baseball, shooting, fishing, driving fast cars, working out in the gym, and listening to good music.

Jonathan Gruder

Safety Quality Control Manager

With over 10 years of experience in dedicated safety roles on large construction projects, I have a proven track record of promoting and ensuring a safe work environment. I have progressed from an entry-level Field Safety Professional to an accomplished Safety Manager, holding both CHST and SMS certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. I am committed to fostering a culture of safety within the organization, striving to achieve a zero-incident workplace.

Away From The Office:

  • When I’m not at work, I enjoy playing and watching ice hockey, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Mike Raventos

Safety Officer

I have over 15 years of experience in the health and safety fields. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety from UC San Diego, C.H.S.T., and hold a Professional Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Industry & General Industry.

Away from the Office:

  • I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, and traveling, especially to Hawaii.
